"Gliding throw the stars, riding the cosmic tides."
Life appeared on earth about 4 billions years ago in the primitive ocean, Panthalassa. Some scientists believe that some of the chemicals needed to create life originated from the cosmos.
In many religions and beliefs, the Ocean (or water in general) holds a very important place and represents Life, Purity and Fertility. The flooding Nile, purification rituals in the Gange, etc.
In the Egyptian mythology, the Nun is the deification of the primordial watery abyss, from which many gods were born.
It was viewed as the origin of Life, as well as the bringer of Death.
Nowadays, the oceans are being damaged and plundered. Sometimes beyond repair. Destroying ecosystems and food chains is likely to have catastrophic consequences.
What was once our cradle is now treated as a landfill, a simple source of profit, treated without any consideration.
By inflicting destruction on the life-giving Oceans, we might bring doom on ourselves.
